The physicians at Santa Monica Dermatology Group deliver to our patients a comprehensive set of medical dermatologic care. We have a particular interest in the early detection and treatment of melanoma and other skin cancers and offer MOHS surgery, which provides the highest surgical cure rate for non-melanoma skin cancer. Our physicians are also closely aligned with numerous top specialists in the Santa Monica area to ensure that our patients receive the best treatment possible, whether at our office or elsewhere. Our group stays current on the latest technological advances in medical, surgical and cosmetic treatments.
Adriana N. Schmidt, M.D., FAAD
Dr. Schmidt is a board-certified dermatologist and a fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology. Her specialties include early detection and treatment of skin cancer, acne, hair loss, and rashes. Dr. Schmidt also enjoys helping patients maintain healthy skin with anti-aging regimens and procedures. A native of Los Angeles, she graduated from Marlborough High School and received her undergraduate degree at Brown University, where she earned Phi Beta Kappa and Magna Cum Laude honors. She attended medical school and was a resident at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee. Dr. Schmidt is the Section Head of Dermatology at St John's Hospital. She is an active member of the North American Hair Research Foundation, the American Medical Association, the American Academy of Dermatology, and other local dermatology societies.
Jason R. Litak, M.D., FAAD, FACMS
Dr. Jason Litak was born and raised in Southern California. He graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of California, San Diego, and earned his medical degree from the prestigious University of California, Los Angeles. He was chief resident in dermatology at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago. After residency he went on to complete a rigorous fellowship in Mohs micrographic surgery, accredited by the American College of Mohs Surgery (only 70 such fellowships exist). With his advanced skin cancer and surgical training, Dr. Litak performs all of the Mohs procedures and many of the skin excisions for our group. He has an expertise in the early detection of skin cancer using the newest technology of dermoscopy and regularly attends conferences on this rapidly progressing technique. He prides himself on focusing on "real" necessary medical and surgical dermatology. Dr. Litak stays current with the dermatology literature and enjoys attending conferences regularly. His passion is for providing compassionate evidence-based medical and surgical care for his patients.
Paul L. Smith, M.D., FAAD
Dr. Paul Smith received both his undergraduate and medical training at UCLA. He also completed his residency at a UCLA affiliated program. He is board certified in Dermatology and Dermatopathology and recently completed voluntary recertification in 2009. He is in good standing with the American Academy of Dermatology. Dr. Smith was born and raised in Southern California and has practiced locally for over 30 years. Dr. Smith is a member of the staff of Santa Monica-UCLA hospital. He has a long-standing history of working with both Veteran's groups and career lifeguards.
Gregory J. Colman, M.D., FAAD
Dr. Colman received his medical degree from Tulane University School of Medicine and completed his internship and residency in Dermatology at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation. He has attended many post-graduate seminars and preceptorships in the use of lasers in Dermatology. He is board-certified by the American Board of Dermatology and successfully completed a voluntary re-certification by the Dermatology Board in 2009. Dr. Colman is also board-certified in Dermatopathology. He is a member in good standing of the American Academy of Dermatology, the Pacific Dermatologic Association, the International Society of Dermatopathology, the American Medical Association, the California Medical Association, and the Los Angeles County Medical Association. Dr. Colman is a member of the staffs of both St. John's Hospital and Santa Monica-UCLA Hospital and served for several years as Chief of Dermatology at St. John's. He has been in private practice in Dermatology in Santa Monica at the same location for the past 32 years.
Lauren L. Reager, M.D., FAAD
A native of Santa Monica, Dr. Lauren Reager received his medical degree from the University of California, Los Angeles. He completed his internship in Internal medicine and residency training in Dermatology at the same institution. Dr. Reager established the Santa Monica Dermatology group in 1968. He is certified by the American Board of Dermatology and completed the voluntary recertification examination in 2009. Additionally, Dr. Reager is certified in Dermatopathology by the American Boards of Dermatology and Pathology. He maintains memberships in the American Academy of Dermatology, Pacific Dermatologic Association, American Medical Association, California Medical Association and the Los Angeles County Medical Association. He has served as Chief of Dermatology at UCLA/Santa Monica Hospital and St. John's Hospital. Dr. Reager is currently an adjunct faculty member at John Wayne Cancer Center at St. John's Medical Center in Santa Monica, CA.
